Live for Today Foundation is proud to welcome Hematologist/Oncologist, Jason Starr, DO, to its Board of Directors. Dr. Starr is a compassionate physician who goes above-and-beyond for the wellbeing of his patients. He has personally treated one of our founder’s, Todd, as well as several other members of Live for Today.
Dr. Starr not only provides his expertise towards his patient’s medical decisions, he also advocates for their quality of life, emotional wellbeing, and personal endeavors. He understands the positive impact ‘living for today’ has on the lives on young people undergoing treatment for cancer and strives to help our mission reach more young adults battling the disease.
Dr. Starr grew up in South Florida and went to University of Central Florida for undergraduate studies and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology. He then obtained his medical training at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida where he graduated summa cum laude. Subsequently he completed his internal medicine and hematology/oncology training at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. Dr. Starr is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, and Florida Osteopathic Medical Association. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Dr. Starr believes every patient has a story about their journey in life. “I have learned that my patients define the human spirit in their fight against cancer.” He looks forward to developing relationships with his patients and that there is no greater joy, professionally and personally, than the feeling of helping his patients live longer, healthier lives.
