This past weekend, we kicked off our healthy living program with a fun, relaxing, and inspiring Yoga & Yogurt event! On Saturday night, Live For Today members and survivors met up at Yoga Mix for a group class, specifically designed for cancer patients at any stage in their diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. Judy, the the owner of the studio, had been trained by the Christina Phipps Foundation and was incredibly knowledgeable about cancer patients needs and limitations. She specifically tailored the class for each of us and the result was a perfect “mix”…pun intended…of fitness and relaxation.
We had a complete range of experience in our group, which made the event even better! One of our survivors, Alex had never done yoga before and really enjoyed his first class. Amber and a few of the other members and survivors had been to a few yoga classes in the past and Jolie, a Live For Today member, is a serious yogi and attends classes at Yoga Mix regularly. Regardless of ability level when we came in, we all left as masters of the “Tree Pose” which you can see in our slightly blurry picture…
After getting our fitness on, we all headed over to HappyCup Frozen Yogurt for a delicious and nutritious finish to the evening! Aaron, the owner, was AWESOME and we all enjoyed the cool atmosphere with awesome flavor choices at HappyCup! Tropic sorbet was definitely the group favorite, and is a vegan friendly option which was perfect for our vegan member, Jolie! The chocolate peanut butter won over Todd’s heart and he mixed both for a partially healthy and indulgent treat. The night ended with some hilarious stories about funny life experiences we’ve all had and plans for our next get together!
HUGE thank you to Judy, our yoga instructor at Yoga Mix, and Aaron from HappyCup Frozen Yogurt Bar for making this event possible! We’ve got another group event coming up soon, so continue to check out our calendar for more details and follow us on our social media channels for the latest updates!
