Last weekend, we kicked off our Healthy Living Partnership with Trinity Fitness Riverside by coming together with trainers and athletes to participate in a group workout and fellowship brunch. On Saturday morning, Live For Today members met up at Trinity Fitness Riverside for a short devotion, prayer, and an intense, sweaty, and fun metabolic conditioning workout. The workout was catered to our members and each individual was able to modify the workout to fit their fitness level. Each member paired up with their own trainer to guide and motivate them through the workout.
Training with the group from LFT was inspiring! The young woman I was working out with, Whitney, was so optimistic and sweet. She was very coachable and gave her very best effort. There were a few things that she struggled with such as not being able to run or struggling with balancing for squats, but her attitude was incredible and she worked hard and wasn’t at all discouraged about her areas of weakness. She was faster than me at the squats and sit-ups and had the most beautiful smile the whole time. I could definitely learn a thing or two from her; I loved he sweet spirit! I also thought it was powerful when we all prayed together at the end. I know God has good plans for all involved and I will continue to pray for encouragement and healing for everyone from LFT.”

I went into this workout expecting it to be a blessing & it exceeded my expectations!! When Todd told me he was being treated since 2009 my mouth might have literally dropped! One word came to mind & that was resiliency!! That word stayed in my mind during the workout & even after the workout because Todd truly gave it his all!! I noticed him getting winded while we were doing squats but he kept going! Again with the burpees he was tired but he kept going! I was blessed & inspired by working out with him! I was reminded that even when what appears to be a ‘bad’ circumstance or experience in life I just need to stay resilient & to keep going!! I’ll be praying for him & the organization and I look forward to helping in any way I can!

Our post-workout brunch was catered by Janell, owner of 904 Fresh, whose intention in her cooking is based on great tasting food that is great for you. She crafted a delicious buffet of wholesome, healthy foods including green juice, lemongrass tea, veggie frittatas, kale veggie wraps, granola and fresh fruit. The members and athletes bonded over the wonderful food and got to know each other a little better now that they weren’t winded and could talk, even if it was with their mouths full!
A huge thank you to the trainers and athletes of Trinity Fitness Riverside, and to Janell from 904 Fresh for making this event an amazing success! Our next Healthy Living Event is a nutritional discussion series at Ackerman Cancer Center. The first session is Tuesday April 14th at 6pm, at ACC.
We are happy to announce that Trinity Fitness has become a Healthy Living Partner, and our members are able to work out there for free!
