Katie is originally from southeast Michigan and moved to Florida in 2004 to pursue her degree and play volleyball at Florida Tech. After completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Ocean Engineering, and just months into her career, she was diagnosed with Stage II Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She has been cancer-free since 2009. Katie has always had a heart for service and has been involved in charity work and fundraising since high school. She has worked with the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, Light the Night, and several other organizations; in 2012 she co-founded Live for Today. She is blessed with two daughters and hopes to inspire them to serve others.
Katie is passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and believes that wellness is extremely beneficial to treatment and recovery. She loves to connect with young adult cancer patients with the hope of walking through treatment and survivorship together.
